Doesn’t matter whether they’re playing in Australia or in India, the ‘babysitter’ theme is going nowhere!

Growing up as he did as a swashbuckling batsman working his way up the Delhi cricket ladder, it is easy to see how and why Rishabh Pant would look at Virender Sehwag as an inspiration.

Sehwag was the original dasher from Delhi, redefining the conventions of an opening batsman in modern-day cricket, and serving as an example for a generation to follow.

But having made his way through to the Team India setup, Pant now has a fresh reason to be inspired by the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ – babysitting!

Sehwag, who has been a fan-favourite commentator since he hung up his boots in 2015, has made quite the wave with his appearance in a promotional advertisement for Star Sports ahead of the upcoming ODI series between India and Australia.

The promo, which was released by Star Sports on Sunday, 10 February, shows Sehwag catering to a group of toddlers dressed up in Australian jerseys – essentially taking on from the ‘babysitter’ banter which took the Internet by storm during India’s Test series in Australia in December-January.

Pant, who had famously posed with Tim Paine’s wife and kids after being mockingly asked by the Australian captain to babysit his children, clearly enjoyed Sehwag’s cheeky appearance.

“Viru paaji showing me how to be better at cricket and babysitting – an inspiration always,” tweeted the 21-year-old ‘keeper-batsman.

The promo hadn’t been received all too well by Australian audiences, with former Aussie opener Matthew Hayden even sounding out a ‘warning’ to his fellow commentator Sehwag about taking Australia lightly at his own peril.

It sure promises to be a feisty affair, as it usually is whenever India and Australia lock horns! The action kicks off with the opening game of a two-match T20I series at Visakhapatnam on Sunday, 24 February.
