The Delhi Capitals imposed an emphatic win over hosts Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League on Monday, 22 April night.
Rishabh Pant (78 runs off 36 balls), Shikhar Dhawan (54 runs off 27 balls) and Prithvi Shaw (42 runs of 39 balls) were the heroes of a well deserved win, chasing the target of 192.
With this win Delhi now climbed up to the top of points table, with 14 points in 10 games, ahead of CSK on the net run rate.
The DC camp was in a joyous mood after their big win. Team advisor, Sourav Ganguly even lifted Rishabh Pant after his heroic innings.
The win meant a lot and called for celebrations for the winning side post the game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
In a video posted by Delhi Capitals’ official Instagram handle, the DC team can be seen receiving a warm welcome post their win, with team flags being hurled around by the franchise’s fans at the hotel.
Shikhar Dhawan also posted an image on Twitter with Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma, praising Pant for his superlative innings to finish the game for Delhi with four balls to go.
After winning the toss and Delhi Capitals put in Rajasthan Royals to bat. The two captains for the franchise this season, Ajinkya Rahane (105 runs off 63 balls) and Steve Smith (50 runs from 32 balls) took the total to 191 in 20 overs.
Chasing a big target, Delhi never looked in trouble with Dhawan and Shaw putting in 72 runs for the first wicket and later Pant joining the show and putting the game to sleep with his innings that included six fours and four sixes.
