The day after leading Karnataka to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in Surat, Indian cricketer Manish Pandey tied the knot with actor Ashrita Shetty on Monday, 2 December.

The 30-year-old cricketer scored an unbeaten 60 in Karnataka’s 1-run win over Tamil Nadu in the final on Sunday. And just hours after lifting the trophy, the winning captain left for his wedding ceremony in Mumbai.

Ashrita is a well-known actor in the southern film industry, and has featured in movies including Udhayam NH4, Indrajith and Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum.

Top-order batsman Pandey has been selected in India’s ODI and T20I squads for the home series against West Indies starting 6 December. When asked about the upcoming assignment with the Men in Blue after Karnataka defended their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, Pandey in the post-match presentation said, “Before that (the next India series), there is one more series to come, getting married tomorrow. So hopefully, it will be a good one.”

Batting first, Karnataka posted 180/5 in the allotted 20 overs with useful contributions from Pandey, Rohan Kadam (35), Devdutt Padikkal (32) and KL Rahul (22).

Karnataka bowlers then produced a fine display of death over bowling to restrict Tamil Nadu to 179/6 in their 20 overs.

West Indies, the reigning ICC World T20 champions, will begin their tour with the three-match T20I series, starting with the opening match in Hyderabad. It will be followed by the second T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on 8 December while the third match will be held in Mumbai on 11 December.

The two teams will then meet in three ODIs in Chennai (15 December), Visakhaptnam (18 December) and Cuttack (22 December).
