Twitter Celebrates India’s Batting Effort Against Pakistan
Riding high on Rohit Sharma’s 140 off 113, India scored 336/5 against Pakistan in Manchester. With rain threat looming large over the game, the weather turned out to be bright and sunny when the match started.
KL Rahul replaced Shikhar Dhawan at the top, and scored 57 important runs at the top of the order with Rohit Sharma. The pair added 136 in 21.5 overs to lay the platform for a big score.
Once Rahul was dismissed, Rohit continued in his merry way striking the Pakistan bowlers to all round the park. Virat Kohli then joined him at the wicket and got started with his innings. Kohli and Rohit added a 98-run stand before Hasan Ali dismissed the latter.
With the fine leg up, Rohit wanted to the ball to hit over him but a slower delivery from Hasan meant that he was caught inside the circle by Wahab Riaz and Rohit’s memorable knock came to an end.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya came into bat in the 39th over and started hitting the ball right from ball 1. In the 43rd over of the game, Pandya even hit Hasan Ali for a six which went in the opposite direction to where he wanted to hit him.
Pakistan pulled things back in the final overs after their was a rain-interruption after 46.4 overs. However, it was a passing shower and the match did not lose overs.
Amir dismissed Kohli for 75 immediately after the rain-break and stifled the Indian run scoring in the final overs.
