Twitter Hails Jason Roy’s Splendid Knock Against Bangladesh

England came into this match on the back of a loss against Pakistan in their last game.

Jason Roy became the second English batsman to score over 150 in a World Cup match after Andrew Strauss scored 158 against India in the 2011 World Cup.

On Saturday, 8 June, Roy decimated the Bangladesh bowlers all-around the park as he displayed a stunning innings – hitting five sixes and 14 boundaries.

England came into this match on the back of a loss against Pakistan on Monday, 3 June. In Monday’s game, Roy however scored merely eight runs off seven balls.

Roy’s Comeback After Poor Performance Against Pakistan

On Saturday, Roy displayed his potential at the top of the order with a richly crafted century.

He first added a 128-run stand for the first wicket with Jonny Bairstow. He then added another crucial stand of 77 runs with Root who scored 21.

After getting past the 100-run mark, Roy continued scoring heavily against Bangladesh bowlers before getting out to Mehidy Hasan.

England finally finished on 386/6 in their 50 overs as Eoin Morgan (35) and Jos Buttler (64) provided some late hitting in the final overs.
