Virat Kohli, Manika, Yogeshwar: Sports Stars Cast Their Votes

Cricketer turned Chowkidar, Gautam Gambhir, who is standing for BJP from East Delhi also voted on Sunday.

India’s sports stars not only represent and inspire the nation on the sports field, but also when it comes to making the most important decision for the country.

Sportspersons from varying backgrounds cast their votes during the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on Sunday, 12 May, and also urging others to step forward and deliver when it matters the most.

Leading from the front was Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli who cast his vote from Gurugram.

Olympic Bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt also cast his vote. The 36-year-old who is a Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medallist posted an image showing his inked finger on Twitter. He wrote, ‘I have voted, you must also go and vote’. Earlier, Yogeshwar had also been linked to fighting elections for BJP in Haryana.

Arjuna Award winning Table Tennis star, Manika Batra voted in Delhi too. Gold medallist at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, she has been involved in spreading awareness through radio and video messages regarding voting.

Young Indian cricket sensation, Rishabh Pant who recently guided his team to the IPL playoffs before getting knocked out by CSK in Qualifier-2, also joined the list.

“It’s not just your right, it is also your responsibility and your power. Go vote,” Pant wrote on Twitter, posting it alongside a selfie with his inked finger.

1983 World Cup winning skipper, Kapil Dev also cast his vote in DPS, Mathura Road. The 60-year old arrived to vote alongside his family.

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir who is fighting the Lok Sabha elections from East Delhi also cast his vote on Sunday, 12 May.

The 2011 World Cup winning opener posted a photo alongside wife Natasha and wrote, “Done my bit !! It’s your turn now.. #GoVoteDelhi.”
