Former Australian cricketer Brad Hodge was on Saturday, 18 May, trolled for a comment he made on an advertisement featuring Indian captain Virat Kohli.

The commercial for a men’s face wash, which also stars Kohli’s young teammate Rishabh Pant, shows the two cricketers jamming to ‘That pimples gotta go’.

In a reply to a post of the ad, Hodge – who was coach of ex-IPL franchise Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 and Kings XI Punjab in 2018 – wrote, ‘Amazing what people do for money’.

The 44-year-old was then brutally trolled by Kohli’s fans on Twitter with people even bringing up the ball-tampering incident from last year, which saw three Australian cricketers – Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft – being handed bans.

‘I Would do the Same’: Hodge Replies

Seeing the backlash, Hodge took to Twitter to clarify what he had meant. ‘Funny, I never did say there was nothing wrong with it. I would do the same. Your interpretation of my comment was so ‘glass half full’ if I attach *smiley emoticon*. Your interpretation would be different,’ he wrote.

‘Amazing how brutal people are in response. So negative and glass half full. I was not speaking in a negative tone. I would do the same if asked and paid,’ he further sad in another tweet.
