Neymar’s contract with Barcelona has been extended until 2021. The 24-year-old moved to Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos in 2013.

The player and his agents confirmed the five-year extension on Thursday.

The Brazilian forward on Thursday posted on his social media accounts that he was “very happy to keep living this dream”.

The announcement, loosely transalted as “Very happy to go on living this dream! LONG LIVE BARCELONA and LONG LIVE CATALONIA”, ended speculation that Neymar was unhappy in Spain and was looking to move to another club.

While Neymar’s current contract was going to end in 2018, Paris Saint-Germain was among the clubs reportedly trying to sign the Brazilian forward.

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu had said recently that the player was close to signing his new contract.
