Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 15, 2019. Mumbai are now placed third on the points table, which is currently being led by Chennai Super Kings.

MI won the toss and decided to bowl first. The wicket had some covering of grass but was good to bat on.

RCB got off to bad start as they lost their skipper Virat Kohli early. AB de Villiers took his time to settle down and along with Parthiv Patel could only manage a score of 45/1 at the end of powerplay.

Parthiv Patel departed soon, courtesy Hardik Pandya. Moeen Ali and AB steadied the innings and took their chances in between. Ali perished after a well-made 50 which saw him hit as many as five sixes and a boundary.

The Points Table

AB de Villiers hit some eye-catching shots on his way to his fourth fifty in IPL 2019. He finished with 75 before eventually getting run out by a direct hit from Pollard in the final over of the RCB innings. RCB finished with a below par score of 171/7.

Mumbai Indians got off to flier as they ended up scoring 67/0 at the end of powerplay. But Moeen Ali removed both the openers in quick succession.

Despite the loss of two quick wickets, Ishan Kishan played a counter-attacking knock of 21 of 9 deliveries before getting dismissed by Chahal.

With an equation of 22 runs off the last 12 balls, a left-arm spinner against Hardik Pandya was never a good idea. And thus Pawan Negi, who bowled the penultimate over, was smacked all around the park for 22 runs by Hardik Pandya to finish the chase and take his side home with an over to spare.

Team Standings

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore find themselves at the bottom of the table having won just one game so far. Chennai Super Kings lead the table with Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders holding the second, third and fourth places, respectively.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab would like to get back to winning ways after losing their momentum midway into the tournament. Rajasthan Royals have lost 5 of their 7 matches and will look to make strong amends going forward.

At the end of the group stage, the top four teams will qualify for the play-offs.
