IPL: Gautam Gambhir Broke This Suresh Raina Record Last Night

Gautam Gambhir created an IPL record last night even as the team lost their first match of the season.

Mumbai Indians: 188/4 in 19.1 overs (Rohit Sharma 84 not out, Jos Buttler 41) by 6 wickets.


The Kolkata Knight Riders lost their first match of the 2016 IPL on Wednesday with a 6 wicket defeat to Mumbai Indians at home.

After losing the toss and being put into bat first, skipper Gautam Gambhir raced to a half-century in 39 deliveries. The 50 also helping him create a new IPL record, of the most 50s in the tournament.

Suresh Raina held the record before Wednesday night, having scored 26 50s in the tournament so far.

Gambhir ended the night on a 52-ball 54 and is now also at the top of the list of the top run-scorers in the tournament with 102.
