Both Kohli and De Villiers departed in the final over, but after causing sufficient damage.
Chasing 186 runs to win, RPS go off to a disastrous start. Faf du Plessis was caught by Harshal Patel off Kane Richardson after scoring just 2 runs. Pietersen who came in after that was retired hurt after just facing his first delivery while Steve Smith was brilliantly run out by Virat Kohli for just 4 runs.
Ajinkya Rahane and captain MS Dhoni then steadied the innings for Pune.
But then RCB’s new signing Tabraiz Shamsi struck as he dismissed Rahane. Meanwhile the required run rate increased beyond 15 for RPS.
And then Dhoni departed.
Almost when RCB thought they had the game in hand, Thisara Perera and Rajat Bhatia took matters into their hands. They began hitting the ball all over the park.
But then Watson dismissed Perera and Ashwin which brought back RCB into the game.
Eventually, RPS lost the match by 13 runs.
