Amid constant reports of a rift between Indian cricketers and head coach Anil Kumble, the names of applicants for the coach’s role were given out by a BCCI source.

According to ANI, Tom Moody (Australia), Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput (former India A coach), Dodda Ganesh (former fast bowler), Richard Pybus (England) and the present head coach Anil Kumble have applied for the post of India’s head coach job.

According to PTI, it was the BCCI top brass that convinced Sehwag to apply for the post.

Anil Kumble was appointed as India’s head coach for one year in June last year. Except for one T20 series against West Indies, India clinched every series under him.

However, the BCCI asked for applications for his job this year. Kumble’s term comes to an end after Champions Trophy.

According to a few reports, there is a rift between the players and Kumble, who are presently in the United Kingdom for the Champions Trophy.

Reportedly, Virat Kohli and his men are not happy with the strictness of Kumble.

A few reports have also said that some BCCI officials are also not happy with Kumble because he asked for a pay hike for players and support staff.
