With a convincing win in the final Test in Johannesburg, India would be expecting to carry on the momentum when they take the field in Durban for the first ODI on Thursday.

The number one spot in ODIs is up for grabs. South Africa, who are the number one ODI side as per the latest ranking, stand a chance to lose their top position if India win the series.

Apart from this, India would like to become the first team since 2016 to defeat South Africa in their home. Not only this the Men in Blue would also like to be the first team to win an ODI series in South Africa since 2013.

Skipper Virat Kohli, while speaking at the press conference in Durban, said that the Indian team always enjoy playing at Kingsmead in Durban as the support for India is always great there.

“Durban has always been a special venue for the Indian team due to the support factor. We have a huge support all around the world, but this is different from that also. It (Durban) is very much like we are playing in India. The weather, the pitch and how it was looking yesterday, it all looks so familiar,” said Kohli. “We are looking forward to playing in front of a full house.”

Apart from the first ODI against South Africa, Kohli also wished the Indian under-19 team good luck ahead of their final of the Under-19 World Cup against Australia.

“They (U-19 team) have done amazingly well. They played really well against Pakistan in the semi-finals. Playing such a high-pressure game, they really stood up. I really want to wish them all the best for the finals. We all will be following very keenly and will be eagerly waiting to see them lift the cup,” said Kohli.

India will be playing a six-match ODI series against South Africa, followed by a T20 series.
