India swept West Indies under the carpet over two Tests and won the second rubber by 257 runs to complete a 2-0 whitewash with astounding ease on Day 4 at the Sabina Park in Kingston on Monday, 2 September.

With this, India registered their eight-straight Test series win over West Indies while Virat Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni to become the country’s most successful captain in the longest format.

In-form India batsmen Ajinkya Rahane (64*) and Hanuma Vihari (53*) struck unbeaten half centuries in the second innings to set an improbable 468-run target for the hosts. Ravindra Jadeja (3/58) and Mohammed Shami (3/65) then took three wickets each to bowl them out for 210 in 59.5 overs.

Sachin Tendulkar joined Twitter in congratulating the Indian team for their win. “Congratulations to Team India on a fabulous series win. It’s been a joy to watch Jasprit Bumrah in this series. His hat-trick was special and the progress he has made in Test cricket has been absolutely terrific," wrote Tendulkar on Twitter.
