Skipper Rohit Sharma lauded Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant after India completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the third T20I against West Indies in Chennai on Sunday. India registered a thrilling six-wicket win in the final match of the series.

Dhawan (92) and Pant (58) strung a 130-run partnership for the third wicket to help the home side chase down West Indies’ total of 181/3.

I think it was very important from the team’s perspective that Dhawan and Pant get some runs and get some form ahead of the important Australian tour. I think Shikhar has been batting really well in the ODI series. He was not able to get big scores, he was getting 30 and 40s. I’m glad that he could play a match-winning knock like that today. I think Rishabh was quite hungry to go out and get those runs. He had a perfect platform when he came into bat. He and Shikhar handled the pressure very well.

When the captain was asked whether a Test return has been on his mind, the Mumbai batsman said that he wants to focus on the T20 series against Australia at the moment.

There’s still time before the first Test in Australia. There are three T20s. We’ve got a practice game before that. I’m not thinking about the first Test. I don’t think that far. I try to stay in the present. Of course, it will be nice to represent India in the Test format. But, first we have to win the T20 series.
