Rahul Dravid will be aiming to win his first U-19 World Cup as a coach
Rahul ‘The Wall’ Dravid celebrated his 45th birthday with the Indian under-19 team on Thursday in New Zealand.
Dravid, who is the coach of the side, is in New Zealand with the team for the under-19 World Cup, slated to start from Friday.
Photos uploaded on Instagram show Rahul Dravid, along with the players, with cake smeared all over his face.
Dravid, who has donned the hat of a coach since 2015, hopes to bring home the ICC U-19 trophy this time around. In the last edition of the event in Bangladesh in 2016, the Indian team finished runners-up after they lost to West Indies in the final.
Dravid, arguably one of the greatest cricketers of our time, scored 13288 runs and 36 centuries in 164 Tests, before he retired in 2012. In ODIs too, he is one of the eleven players to have surpassed 10000 runs at an healthy average of 39.16 runs in 344 games.
