BCCI-PCB Talks to be Held in Delhi After Shiv Sena Protest
Talks with Pakistan cricket chief cancelled as Shiv Sena workers barge into BCCI office
The much-anticipated talks between BCCI President Shashank Manohar and his Pakistan counterpart Shahryar Khan on the proposed bilateral series have been rescheduled for tomorrow after protests by Shiv Sena activists forced the Board to cancel the meet in Mumbai today. The talks have also been shifted to Delhi, sources told NDTV.
The PCB chief Shahryar Khan arrived in Mumbai earlier today to meet Shashank Manohar to revive cricketing ties between India and Pakistan.
The Shiv Sena, which rules Maharashtra in alliance with the BJP, says it will not allow any engagement with Pakistan because of terror attacks and firing on the border.
Shiv Sena members shouted anti-Pakistan slogans and carried placards saying ‘Shashank Manohar murdabad’, ‘Shahryar Khan chale jao.’
The Mumbai police have detained 20 Shiv Sena members.
The meeting between the two cricketing chiefs may be shifted to Delhi.
