The State Elections 2017 are over and the results are out. Now is the perfect time to reminisce over what led the conversation on social media. Going by the data that Twitter India has shared, State Elections was mentioned over 6.4 million times between February 10 to March 12, and wasn’t confined to the five states going into polls alone, but discussed nationwide, and even globally.

Throughout the State Elections campaign, politicians and parties took to Twitter to regularly communicate with people all over India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) and Bharatiya Janata Party (@BJP4India) emerged as the most mentioned on Twitter since the beginning of the year.
Not to mention, demonetisation ruled the social buzz during the State Elections, generating over 3,00,000 mentions on Twitter in the past 30 days.
