Watch: Dhoni Fan Sprints Onto the Field to Touch His Hero’s Feet

A fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke free from the packed crowd at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai during the India A game against England to touch the batsman-wicketkeeper’s feet on Tuesday.

The man was escorted out of the playing area by police and then taken out of the stadium, but he kept turning back to catch glimpses of his hero.

Leading his team in what could be the last time, Dhoni scored 68 runs not out off 40 balls during the warm-up game ahead of the T20 and ODI series against England.

The fan ran on to the field to fall at Dhoni's feet, and when the skipper told him not to step on the pitch, he obliged by jumping over.

Mahi announced his retirement as India’s limited overs captain on 4 January, leaving Indian cricket fans heartbroken. The wicketkeeper-batsman was, however, named in both the T20 and ODI squads for the England series scheduled to start on 15 January.
