Mandeep Singh

Rank: Naib Subedar
Regiment: 3 Medium, Artillery

Mandeep Singh, a 39-year-old firearms instructor, was the sole breadwinner of his family and was soon to be posted to Bhatinda, which was closer to his home.

He was a native of Seel village in Patiala district of Punjab. Singh had joined the army at the age of 17, right after the completion of his schooling.

After serving for over 22 years, Singh was promoted to the rank of Naib Subedar in 2020. He leaves behind his wife, two children and a 70-year-old mother, Shakuntala Devi, who all were eagerly waiting for him to return.

In his last conversation with his family, Singh had told them that he won’t be able to contact them over the next few days as his unit was marching towards the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
