Gurtej Singh, 23, hailed from Beerewala village in Punjab's Mansa district. He joined the army in 2018, fulfilling his lifelong dream to serve the nation. Despite being the youngest of three siblings at home, he was a dutiful son who managed all his responsibilities with utmost dedication and took care of his family’s needs before his own. He wanted to throw a party for his brother’s marriage which he wasn’t able to attend eventually. A ‘Sher-Puttar’ to his mother, the brave jawaan killed Chinese soldiers before attaining martyrdom on 15 June. Gurtej's last words to his brother were "Anything can happen at this point of time".
