Deepak Kumar, 30, was looking forward to going home, to spend time with his wife and family when he last spoke to his grandmother, and said, 'I will take a leave and come home after the lockdown.'

Resident of Farhada village in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Kumar had gotten married just seven months ago, on 30 November 2019, to Rekha Singh.

He joined the army in 2012, at the age of 22. He was last home in the month of March and celebrated Holi with his family.
