5 HOCKEY PLAYERS WHO COULD DEFEND INDIA’S TITLE AT ASIAN GAMES 2018

With an Olympic Games berth up for grabs, here’s a look at five players who could help India defend their gold medal at the Asian Games 2018.

PR Sreejesh

Senior goalkeeper Sreejesh will be leading India’s 18-member squad at the Asian Games.

He led India to a Champions Trophy silver in July 2018, on his return to captaincy after over a year.

Manpreet Singh

With on-field creativity and leadership skills, midfielder Manpreet is one of the mainstays in the team.

Carrying India’s midfield, he will play a crucial role by creating opportunities for India to score.

Harmanpreet Singh

Besides playing a pivotal role in the defence, Harmanpreet has become India’s top dragflicker in recent times.

The 22-year-old scored 6 goals at the Gold Coast CWG, including five PCs and one during the penalty shootout.

Rupinder Pal Singh

Senior penalty corner specialist Rupinder has been in and out of the team since his injury in 2017.

The fullback was picked for the Asiad after he impressed the selectors at the test matches in New Zealand. He will be looking to make a significant contribution.

SV Sunil

With over 200 international caps, Sunil brings incredible experience and speed to the Indian team’s forward line.

He’ll be expected to not only score field goals, but also to create scoring chances for his teammates.
