The chaos in West Bengal continues as the Election Commission cut short the election campaigning in the state by one day. All campaigns in the state will end at 10 pm on 16 May, Thursday, and no party is taking it lightly. Modi says BJP will make a new statue of Vidyasagar if elected. Mamata says, ‘no thanks but you can have a black statue to symbolise the fascism that BJP has brought’.

It’s been two days since clashes between TMC and BJP supporters concluded with the destruction of a 200-year-old statue of Bengali icon Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. You can listen to our previous podcast for more details on the clashes.

In this episode of The Big Story, we talk about what the EC order says, definition of Article 324, few concerns that have been raised regarding the order and the political state of West Bengal. Tune in!
