  • On Tuesday, a car bomb attack that targeted a Turkish police bus in the central Istanbul district of Vezneciler rocked Turkey. Ther attack has left 11 dead and 36 others wounded in its wake, agencies report.

  • The blast, set off by a remote control, occurred during the morning rush-hour near the city’s main tourist district, Istanbul University and the mayor’s office.
    It shattered shop windows and scattered rubble over nearby streets. Multiple ambulances were rushed to the area to provide instantaneous medical care.

  • There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Kurdish militants, Islamic State (ISIS) and radical leftists have all staged attacks in Turkey recently. This is fourth major bombing in Turkey’s biggest city this year. According to the state-run Anadolu agency, gunshots were heard in the area after the blast.
