Regular operations at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol have resumed after a “suspicious situation” on Wednesday, 6 November.
Military police of the Netherlands, Royal Marechaussee, had said it was “investigating a suspicious situation on board a plane” at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. it later added that passengers and crew were safely taken off-board.
“As a result of the investigation by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, our D pier was temporarily closed. From now on, there is a regular operation at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol again,” the airport tweeted.
‘False Alarm’ Says Air Europa
Airline Air Europa said in a tweet that the scare was a false alarm. It said a warning that triggers hijack protocols at airports "was activated, by mistake."
The carrier added that all passengers "are safe and sound waiting to fly soon. We deeply apologize."
Dutch media reported that emergency services were deployed in big numbers Wednesday night at the airport on the outskirts of Amsterdam, according to AP.
