Citing the examples of German fascist leader Adolf Hitler and French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that a real leader changes strategy depending on the need of the hour.

Khan said that Napoleon and Hitler "faced defeat as they did not change their strategies according to the situation and (as a result) their armies were marooned in Russia."

“Leaders should always be ready to take U-turns according to the requirement of their duties and best interests of the nation,” Pakistani daily Dawn quoted Imran Khan as saying.

These remarks were made while interacting with journalists at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Pakistani prime minister's comments drew flak from the opposition. Pakistan Peoples' Party leader Khursheed Shah said, "Imran Khan is Hitler and is taking U-turns to avoid losses."

Khan said the government would present a comprehensive plan to tackle poverty, provide better education and health facilities.

“The first 100 days of any government determine its direction and policies,” Dawn quoted Khan as saying.
