Three Shot, One in Custody
Three people were shot and wounded near the US National Security Agency's headquarters in Maryland, and one person was taken into custody, local media reported on Wednesday, 14 February.
Local fire and police departments tweeted earlier that they were responding to a possible shooting incident outside the agency's campus in Fort Meade. The highway near Fort Meade was closed in both directions due to the police investigation, according to the Twitter account of the Fort Meade public affairs office, which was unavailable to comment.
Three People Taken to Custody
The FBI has taken three people to custody in the NSA shooting incident, reported Reuters.
Injuries Not from Gunfire: NSA
As per a fresh NSA statement, while several persons have been hospitalised after the incident, none of the injuries appear to have been sustained from the gunfire.
NSA Releases Statement
The NSA released a statement, following the shooting, that the police and law enforcement were looking into the shooting.
“The situation is under control and there is no ongoing security or safety threat”, the statement said.
President Trump Briefed on Shooting
US President Donald Trump has been briefed on the shooting in Fort Meade, said the official spokesperson of the White House.
