Soon after US President Donald Trump’s allegations on Tuesday, 3 November, against the Democrats and his threat about approaching the Supreme Court, the Joe Biden campaign issued a statement saying, “The president’s statement tonight about trying to shut down the counting of duly cast ballots was outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect.”

President Trump addressed the media from the East Room in the White House earlier, saying that they would be going to the US Supreme Court to dispute the election counting, AFP reported.

Biden's campaign manager further said they have legal teams standing by and ready to deploy if Trump actually approaches the court to try to prevent the counting of votes.

"If the president makes good on his threat to go to court to try to prevent the proper tabulation of votes, we have legal teams standing by ready to deploy to resist that effort," campaign manager Jen O'Malley was quoted as saying in a statement.

‘Want All Voting to Stop’: Trump

“We’ll be going to the US Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop...We are going to win this and as far as I’m concerned, we have already won,” Trump reportedly said during his late night briefing, calling it a “fraud on the American public”.

"Millions and millions of people voted for us," Trump said on Tuesday, according to CNN. "A very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people."

"Frankly, we did win this election," he added, although millions of votes were still outstanding.

According to CNN, the President also said that he was preparing to declare victory earlier in the evening. "We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything. And all of a sudden it was just called off," he said.

Earlier, the president took to Twitter to declare a “big win”.

Further, in a tweet that Twitter labelled as disputed or misleading, Trump also said that they were “up big” and that the Democrats were trying to steal the election.

‘On Track to Win Election’: Biden

Meanwhile, Joe Biden addressed supporters in his home state of Delaware, saying that he believed “we’re on track to win this election.”

“We knew this was going to be long,” Biden said. “But look: we feel good about where we are. We really do.”

The former vice president also emphasised that it was essential to wait until every vote was counted to determine the winner of the presidential election.

Biden also appeared to respond to Trump’s tweet claiming a big win, writing on Twitter that it was the voters’ place to declare the winner.
