The new casualty total of 50 belies President Donald Trump's initial claim that no Americans were harmed. Days after the attack, the military said 11 service members were injured. Last week, the Pentagon said that 34 U.S. service members were hurt.

Three rockets hit near the US embassy on Tuesday, 21 January, in the Iraqi capital's high-security Green Zone, security sources told AFP, with no immediate reports of casualties.

Pentagon: 50 Troops Suffered Brain Injuries in Iran Strike

The Pentagon on Tuesday raised to 50 the number of US service members who suffered traumatic brain injuries in Iran's missile strike earlier this month on an Iraqi air base, the third time the number of injuries has been increased.

Lt Col Thomas Campbell, a Pentagon spokesman, said Tuesday that 16 additional service members were diagnosed with traumatic brain injury. Of the 50, Campbell said, 31 service members had returned to duty.

The service members were treated in Iraq, or at military health centers, including Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the largest US military hospital outside the continental United States, and a US military medical facility in Kuwait.

‘Make Iran Great Again’: US President Trump to Iranian Leaders

US President Donald Trump told Iranian leaders, “Make Iran great again,” ANI reported.

He further warned Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to be "very careful with his words."

"The so-called 'Supreme Leader' of Iran, who has not been so Supreme lately, had some nasty things to say about the United States and Europe," Trump tweeted of Khamenei's comments earlier Friday, 17 January, in Tehran.

According to Trump, Khamenei's blistering speech, in which he attacked the "vicious" United States and described Britain, France and Germany as "America's lackey's," was a mistake.
