Nick Jonas seems to be doing his best to keep up with Priyanka Chopra’s desi girl tag and a video posted by sister-in-law Danielle Jonas, in honour of his 27th birthday, is proof. While the clip of Nick dancing to ‘Hauli Hauli’ from De De Pyaar De indicates Nick still has some way to go before mastering his bhangra moves, he makes up for it with enthusiasm and his mock seriousness cracks Priyanka up.
This is not the first time Nick has been bitten by the Bollywood bug. He grooved to Priyanka’s hit ‘Desi Girl’ - even if it was somewhat reluctantly - at the couple’s wedding in December last year.
It’s not just Nick but the extended Jonas family who are Bollywood fans. In an interview shortly after their wedding, Priyanka revealed that the Jonases loved films like Barfi and Mary Kom and knew the steps to her songs. “These are two that I think they've watched, but more than that it's just been the songs, like ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ and ‘Desi Girl', they know all the hook steps. It was shocking! ‘Gallan Goodiyan’... they know all the steps to everything, it's amazing!” she said.
Priyanka also revealed that Nick’s “really embraced Bollywood” and now considers it his “hype music” which he listens to to get himself in the zone before a show.
Priyanka shared a touching message for Nick’s birthday calling him the “most generous, loving man I have ever met”.
The couple were most recently seen together on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) at the premiere of Priyanka’s latest film The Sky Is Pink. Directed by Shonali Bose, it also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim and releases on 11 October.
