A Rendezvous with Ambassador Richard Verma on #SuperEconomies
A pleasure to present a copy of my new book #SuperEconomies to Ambassador Richard Verma, writes Raghav Bahl.
I had the pleasure and honour of presenting a copy of SuperEconomies: America, India, China and the Future of the World to Ambassador Richard Verma at the US Embassy this afternoon. His colleagues, Walter Douglas (Minister-Counselor, Public Affairs) and Joseph Kruzich (Spokesperson) were also present at our meeting.
Ambassador Verma posed a series of intelligent, probing queries on how this book extended the argument that I had articulated in my first book Superpower?: The Amazing Race Between China’s Hare and India’s Tortoise, why I had triangulated America into the China-India equation, and why I thought it is a “historical imperative” that America and India will become strategic allies in the 21st Century, almost at par with what UK/Japan were during the 20th Century.
It was a stimulating afternoon, and I am grateful for Ambassador Verma’s gracious hospitality; and of course, for the wonderful photograph we clicked at the steps of the Embassy in searing 45 degrees centigrade!
