TRUE OR FALSE?

The claim made in the video is completely false.

The video is from an incident which happened in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district in November. According to media reports, the man in the video tried to allegedly sexually assault a minor girl, but he was caught in the act by the locals and arrested. He has been identified as Veerabhadrayya.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

A man conversing in Telugu in the video can be heard asking the accused, “Will you rape small children?”.

Taking a cue from here, we searched on YouTube with the keywords “Police man beating Andhra”. We found the same video played in a bulletin by Sakshi TV on 26 November.

According to this bulletin, Veerabhadrayya, from Karikiri village in Chittoor district tried to rape and murder a 10-year-old girl and was caught in the act by locals. It further added that as he tried to escape from the police, he was again caught and beaten by them.
