Celebrities and famous film personalities often become victims of viral death hoaxes and the latest to join the club is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
A website under the name bbc.247updatednews claims that Dwayne Johnson died after a failed stunt. The website which looks like a replica of BBC News has shared a video with the headline ‘Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Dies at 47 After a Terrible Stunt Attempt Failure’.
At the time of writing this article, this video had already garnered 1.6 million views and 2.5 thousand comments. The video was shared 5.3 thousand times.

TRUE OR FALSE?
A simple look at the website raised doubts regarding its authenticity and after few levels of checks and verification The Quint could confirm that this is a hoax website.
While the website sports a BBC News logo and name, its URL is not a BBC URL.
Further, as we clicked on the video we were directed to a blank web page which has a URL BBC.pepetv.info.
Although the actor himself has not issued any clarification regarding the hoax, he is very much active social media.
Also, there are no news reports to corroborate the claims made by the false website.
This is not the first time that the ‘Fast and Furious’ actor has become a target of a death hoax. News of his death was circulated in the year 2011 and then also in 2014.
