CLAIM

A YouTube video published in 2017 which claims to show a 101-year-old woman with a newborn is doing the rounds with the claim that the woman gave birth to her 17th child.

The narration in the video goes, "The woman had given birth to 16 children after which she was diagnosed with cancer and now she has delivered her 17th kid."

Several social media users have shared the video on Facebook and Twitter.

WHAT'S THE TRUTH?

On conducting a Google reverse image search, we found an article published by ABC News on 31 March 2015. The article headlined as '101-Year-Old Great-Grandmother in Heartwarming Viral Photo Dies,' carries the same image that is seen in the YouTube video.

ABC News had published an article in 2015 that carried the same image.

The article mentions that the 101-year-old woman seen in the photo is Rosa Camfield, holding her great-granddaughter Kaylee, and not her own child as claimed.

Camfield passed away in 2015 and the picture was taken by her granddaughter Sarah Hamm who had then told ABC News, “She passed away last night, so this was very bittersweet. The photo was taken by me of my daughter Kaylee when she was two weeks old. It was actually the day she was being released in the hospital, so we were hoping that Grandma would get to meet her.”

Hence, an image of a 101-year-old holding her great-granddaughter is being shared with the misleading claim that she gave birth to a child at the age of 101.
