CLAIM

A 19-second video on social media has been shared with the narrative “केजरीवाल यह सोचकर काँप उठता है कि की मोदी और शाह दुबारा सत्ता में लौटे तो पाकिस्तान बर्बाद हो हो जाएगा” (Translated: Kejriwal is scared of thinking that if Modi-Shah are voted to power again, then Pakistan will be destroyed.)

The video shows Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying, “The more I think about it, the more I am scared. If Modi and Amit Shah come back to power, then my friends, Pakistan will not remain safe.”

TRUE OR FALSE?

The claim is false; the video has been doctored to make it appear as though Kejriwal said "Pakistan would be destroyed."

WHAT DID WE FIND OUT?

The original footage from the Kolkata 'United India' rally – where Kejriwal was speaking – shows him say "India would be destroyed if the duo was voted back to power", not Pakistan.

In the original video, Kejriwal can be heard saying, "The more I think about it, the more I am scared. If these two are voted back to power in 2019, then my friends, this country cannot be saved."

Clearly, in the 19-second video, the words 'ye desh' have been replaced with 'Pakistan'.

WHAT ELSE DID KEJRIWAL SAY AT THE RALLY?

The Delhi chief minister also accused the BJP of creating animosity among the people and dividing the nation.

“It was Pakistan’s dream to split this country into pieces. This BJP government is going ahead in that direction by creating enmity among people and dividing the nation on the lines of religion, language...”
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi chief minister

Criticising the Modi government for unemployment issues, Kejriwal said the youth of the country do not have enough employment opportunities and the current government has made it worse with demonetisation.

He added that the objective of the general elections was not to find the next prime minister, but to oust Modi and his party.
