“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled his promise of turning Varanasi into Kyoto,” claimed a viral Facebook post. It said that the Modi government built a flyover that “literally flies over a building and connected Godowlia to Assi Ghat.”
The post also alleged that “secular media” will never publicise this development. However, as reported by The Print, the image shared with that post is of the Nanpu Bridge in Shanghai, China.
This Facebook post was first shared by a user named RS Nagar, who, as is evident from his Facebook activity, is a big fan of PM Modi.
This post has been shared on Facebook over 23,000 times, reported The Print.
Shanghai’s Nanpu Bridge links central Shanghai with the Pudong district across the Huangpu river. It contributes significantly to the development of the Pudong district. It also serves as an attraction for tourists, as well as for locals.
