I-T Raids on UP Babu, Undisclosed Assets of Over Rs 50 Crore Found
I-T officials also recovered cash and jewelry totaling around Rs 2.5 crores.
The Income Tax Department has found more than Rs 50 crore worth of undisclosed properties and investments linked to Superintendent Engineer in Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department, Rajeshwar Singh Yadav. Cash and jewelry totaling around Rs 2.5 crores were also recovered.
On Friday, I-T Department raided 22 locations in 7 cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, and Etah. According to a senior I-T official, Yadav had also created shell companies in the name of his brother and brother-in-law, whose offices and residences were also raided by the I-T officials.
The I-T Department recovered two briefcases containing cash amounting to Rs 25 lakh and jewelry from his brother-in-law along with documents of undeclared properties and investment in the stock market.
The raids are being carried out by Noida Investigation Unit of the Income Tax department in a crackdown against undeclared assets.
