Note on Methodology

As of now, this tracker focuses on incidents of hate crime and communal violence that have taken place since June 2024. An incident has been classified as a hate crime when the authorities or the victim or the victim's family have cited that the crime was motivated by prejudice on the basis of religion or caste. We are working constantly to make this list as exhaustive as possible.
