  • A PIL seeking cancellation of elections to Aravakurichi and Thanjavur assembly constituencies, was filed before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High court on Wednesday.

  • In his PIL, R Yowan Thangaraj said that merely deferring the elections to 23 May would serve no purpose.

  • The Election Commission on Sunday had deferred the polling in Thanjavur and Aravakurichi constituencies following the seizure of cash, gift items and evidence of large scale distribution of money to the voters.
