Sushil Modi Threatens Defamation Case Against Rahul Gandhi

Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi responded to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s remark stating that “all thieves have Modi in their surname”. He said,

“I will file a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi in a Patna court. Is it a crime to have ‘Modi’ surname? He has referred to crores of people as ‘chor’ and hurt their sentiments.”

He took offence to the remark which was made on Monday, 15 April 2019 by Rahul Gandhi and threatened to file a defamation case.

Referring to PM Modi, fugitive Nirav Modi and former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, Rahul Gandhi had made the following remark during his rally in the Nanded constituency in Maharashtra, as reported by Economic Times.

"But tell me one thing...Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi...how come they all have Modi as common name. How come all the thieves have Modi as the common name?" Gandhi asked.
