Minutes after Shiv Sena MLAs took oath in the Maharashtra Assembly on Wednesday, 27 November, party leader Sanjay Raut sent a message to the BJP saying that it shouldn’t be surprised if his party comes to power even in Delhi.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Raut said that people shouldn’t be surprised if Sena’s ‘suryayan’ lands in the national capital.
“I have been saying this from the first day that we will form the government. I have said that our suryayaan will land safely on the sixth floor of the mantralaya (secretariat). But everyone was laughing at us. Now, our suryayaan has landed safely. People shouldn’t be surprised if Sena’s suryayaan lands in Delhi.”Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena Leader
Assembly polls in Delhi are expected to be held early in 2020.
Earlier on Tuesday, Raut told reporters after a meeting of the Sena-NCP-Congress alliance leaders that Uddhav Thackeray will be the chief minister for 5 years.
He also added that his party will invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis for the swearing-in ceremony that will be held on 28 November in Mumbai.
In the 288-member Assembly, the BJP is the single-largest party with 105 MLAs, followed by the Shiv Sena (56), the NCP (54) and the Congress (44).
After a strong tussle that lasted over a month, the ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi', the three-party combine of Sena, NCP and Congress is set to form the government in Maharashtra.
Raut, considered as one of the key architects of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government, also said he has fulfilled his responsibility and would now focus on his job.
The Rajya Sabha member is also the executive editor of Shiv Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
Raut, responding to a question, said that he is a fighter and a Shiv Sena worker and not 'Chanakya' (an ancient royal adviser).
