Triggering speculations over his next political move, disgruntled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha attended an iftar party hosted by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday, 13 June, choosing to skip the iftar party hosted by its rival JD(U), PTI reported.

The two-term Lok Sabha MP from Patna has also hinted in his recent media interaction about contesting the 2019 Lok Saha elections from his traditional seat, regardless of the political scenario, ABP Live reported. However, he chose to remain silent on the question of which political party he may be planning to join.

The iftar at Yadav's 5, Circular Road residence coincided with a similar feast for "rozedars" held at the Haj Bhavan, which was organised by the ruling Janata Dal (United) in Bihar, PTI reported.

The actor-turned-politician remained conspicuous by his absence in the latter event.

It is an auspicious and happy occasion. Iftar parties are a part of our composite culture. Lalu Prasad (RJD supremo) is my dear friend. I am delighted to be among my family friends.

The veteran actor-politician spent around 30 minutes at Yadav's residence. However, Lalu Yadav – who is out on bail in the fodder scam case – did not attend the event.

However, Tejashwi's elder brother, MLA Tej Pratap Yadav, and eldest sister, Misa Bharti, were present at the party, seeking to put to rest recent speculations about sibling rivalry that was triggered by a tweet from Tej Pratap.

‘Khamoosh’ — Sinha’s Patent Reply Over Snub to JD(U)

Sinha, who has been a BJP dissenter, cited that he was unmindful of the Haj House function and hence chose to give JD(U)’s iftar party a miss, PTI reported.

On being questioned as to why he graced the Opposition’s function, giving a snub to his own, Sinha further asserted that "iftaar only sweetens relationships."

“Khamosh!” was Sinha’s trademark reply on the possibility of bitterness in the BJP after he chose to skip the one hosted by his party’s ally.
