A day before the historic Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid title dispute case verdict, scheduled for Saturday, 9 November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said whatever judgement the Supreme Court delivers, “it will not be victory or defeat for anyone.”

In a series of tweets, the PM called for peace and communal harmony, “My appeal to the countrymen is that it should be the priority of all of us that this decision should further strengthen the great tradition of peace, unity and goodwill of India,” he added.

PM Modi further wrote that “the efforts made by all sections of the society to maintain an atmosphere of goodwill are greatly appreciated.”

A constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and including Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer, heard the arguments in the Ayodhya case for 40 days and reserved its verdict on 16 October.

The bench will likely announce its verdict on the Ayodhya dispute at 10:30 am on Saturday.

In light of that, the Centre has asked all states to remain alert and ensure security in sensitive areas, officials said on Thursday, reported PTI.

Furthermore, all schools, colleges, educational institutions and training centres in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed from 9 November to 11 November, reported ANI.

The BJP earlier issued guidelines for party leaders, asking them to avoid inflammatory or provocative statements after the verdict.
