A day after posters depicting Congress President as Rahul Gandhi as Lord Ram were put up everywhere in Patna ahead of his ‘Jan Aakansha’ rally, posters presenting his sister Priyanka Gandhi as Goddess Durga filled several streets in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, on Wednesday, 30 January.
The message written on the posters read: “Congress ki durga, shatruo ka karegi vadh” (Congress’ Durga will destroy its enemies). The posters were put up in sectors 2, 3 and 14 of the Kumbh Mela.
Along with this message, other Congress promises- such as the safety of women, relief from GST, loan-waivers for farmers, Ram temple and other initiatives were also put in bullet points under the picture of Priyanka as Durga.
Gandhi Presented as Lord Ram in Posters
The posters presenting Rahul Gandhi as Lord Ram were put up ahead of the ‘Jan Aakansha’ rally that will be held at Gandhi Maidan on 3 February. Congress worker Vijay Kumar Singh (67), who put up the posters, told The Times of India that Gandhi has all the qualities of Lord Ram. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, indulges in politics in the name of Lord Ram.
“Congress has been working for the development of country for long, and all the important revolutions and schemes had been implemented by the Congress,” Singh told ToI.
Singh also said that Gandhi and the Congress party could resolve the Ayodhya issue while the BJP manipulated people for vote bank politics.
In the past, similar posters were spotted in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi ahead of Gandhi’s first trip to his parliamentary constituency as the Congress president in January 2018, according to Hindustan Times. They depicted Gandhi as an incarnation of Lord Ram and showed the Congress president defeating PM Modi, who was portrayed as Ravana.
