A meeting between Congress President Sonia Gandhi and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav, sources say, is set to be held in the first half tomorrow to explore and address the issue of an alliance for the Bihar Assembly polls. The meeting comes a day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held consultations in the same regard with Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul is said to have favoured a broad secular alliance for the state and he informed Kumar about the Congress’ views on the matter.

An alliance has been formed betwen Bihar’s ruling JD(U) and Lalu Prasad’s RJD to contest the State Assembly elections and a six member committee has been constituted to finalise seat-sharing.

It has been decided in today’s meeting that a committee of three members each from RJD and JD-U will decide seat sharing and leaders of both parties will give a final shape to it. It has been decided now that both parties will fight the election in Bihar in alliance.

He was talking to reporters after a two-hour long meeting between Bihar Chief Minister Kumar and RJD Chief Yadav at the residence of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, whom the two parties had approached to broker peace after days of sparring between leaders of the two parties.

Tomorrow is another day, and we’re eagerly waiting and looking forward to a good contest in Bihar.
