With the Congress snatching Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh from the BJP and almost set to win Madhya Pradesh, Twitter showered praise on Rahul Gandhi, crediting him for his party’s wins.
The gains for the Congress in the Hindi heartland states – exactly a year after Gandhi took charge of the grand old party – assume significance though the party suffered a severe drubbing in Telangana and Mizoram.
‘Told My Editors the Man Has Arrived’
Journalists took to Twitter to describe Rahul Gandhi as a man who took questions with “confidence and spunk.” A few journalists recalled that Gandhi, who once took the brickbats, took all the credit for the Congress party’s wins.
‘Spoke With Sense of Humility’
Addressing the media after his party’s victory, Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi taught him "what not to do" and he also "learnt a lot" from the massive defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He said that the prime minister got a massive mandate but refused to listen to "heartbeat of the country".
However, he also thanked the chief ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for their contribution and said that his party will carry forward their work.

Tweeple even likened the Congress president to his father, Rajiv Gandhi, and said that they saw the same “simplicity and decency.”
