The Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated TikTok star Sonali Phogat as its candidate for the Adampur seat in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Phogat's popularity on TikTok can be gauged from the fact that her account on the social media media platform has nearly 1.50 lakh followers
Speaking to CNN-News18, Phogat said that if elected, she would use TikTok to make desh bhakti (patriotic) videos. She also attributed the party ticket to her being a worker of the BJP for the last 12 years.
"I have not got the BJP ticket because of my TikTok stint," she said.
Tough Challenge for Phogat
The Aadampur seat has been dominated by the local Bishnoi family in the past. The scion Bhajanlal won the seat in 2000 and 2005 and went on to become the chief minister of the state.
He has bagged the seat on eight occasions since 1969.
Kuldeep Bishnoi, Congress’ candidate and Bhajanlal’s son, is up against Phogat on the Aadampur seat.
