Tension prevails at the NIT campus in Srinagar but these brave young women continue to take strides protesting for justice.

NIT currently hosts one soldier for every two students on campus for their safety and two members from the HRD Ministry are in Srinagar to ensure the safety and security of all students. Non-Kashmiri students feel ever-so-slightly safe but the situation on campus is still not fully under control.

This however, didn’t stop the non-Kashmiri women of NIT Srinagar from marching for safety and justice.

According to reports, these very girls have been allegedly threatened to be raped and murdered by Kashmiri students.

In an India Times report, one non-Kashmiri student narrated their living nightmare:

Yesterday, a group of Kashmiri students walked up to me and said: ‘Ek ke saath rape hoga to sab thande pad jaoge’ (If one of you gets raped, the rest will fall silent)

The threats haven’t stopped but neither have the girls. These brave girls of NIT came out hoisting the tricolour while sending out a powerful message to the rest of the world saying they are ‘not afraid’.
