Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, 23 August, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of spreading hatred in India.

Addressing the Indian Overseas Congress in Berlin, Germany, Gandhi thanked the diaspora for helping form a Congress government in Punjab.

He added that the Congress was working towards dispelling hatred, and bringing together people from all communities.

The Congress works to bring people together and move forward – and we have done this earlier.

Attacking the BJP government in India for not having kept its promise of employment, Gandhi compared the prevailing situation in the country to that of China.

China provides employment to 50,000 youths every 24 hours. The Indian government can provide employment to only 450 youths every 24 hours. They give long speeches, spread hatred, and on the other side famers are committing suicides. The country’s youth have no direction.

Rahul to Visit London After Two-Day Stop in Germany

The Congress president is on a two-day visit to Germany, following which he would be visiting the United Kingdom for another two days.

Earlier on Thursday, Gandhi called on some members of the German Parliament and discussed with them a number of domestic and international issues including jobs and trade, reported PTI. He also walked through the "archives of German Members of Parliament”.

The Congress party said Gandhi met with German parliamentarians Gerold Otten, Johannes Schraps, Omid Nouripour and Rene Springer and discussed with them domestic and international politics, jobs and trade.

In London, Gandhi is slated to hold a series of meetings with MPs and address a meeting of overseas Indians.
